Why am I here?

You are seeing this page because we have received a notification from the owner of a copyright protected work that you are distributing their work without permission.

In plain english…

You have probably downloaded a film using bit torrent and the bit torrent application you used is now sharing the film with other internet users. You may not even be aware that the bit torrent app does this as it is normally turned on by default.

I have not!!

The name of the film will be on the notes on the My Account page so it is worth a check.

What has SoldierNET done about it?

Your Internet access has been limited. You will be disconnected from the Internet after a very short period and whilst you are connected your connection speeds will be severely restricted.

How do I get the limitations removed?

Make sure that you have deleted all copyright protected content for which you do not hold the rights and then give us a call on 0131 556 4300.

What’s it got to do with SoldierNET?

Copyright protection is enshrined in law, and more importantly in the SoldierNET terms and conditions of use.
See ‘Copyright law of the United Kingdom‘  and ‘Copyright law of the United States‘.

Repeated Incidents

It takes time and effort to track down copyright violations, and they are not permitted under the terms and conditions of use. SoldierNET Ltd reserves the right to permanently withdraw the service to a user should repeated problems be reported.

It wasn’t me!

You are responsible for all activity that occurs on your account. If you lent a laptop to your mate or let them log in using your account then a) you are responsible for everything they do, and b) you are in violation of your SoldierNET terms and conditions, as your Internet access is for your personal use only.

Can’t I just set up a new account?

Usage is recorded by name, device, IP address and various other bits of information that can cross reference accounts.

Fair use

If you have a genuine right to hold and distribute the copyright material then you must obtain written authorisation from the copyright holder and ask them to contact us to authorise its distribution.
